About me

Here is my about me" page where I get to talk about myself.

I grown up in rural South Australia where  my Dad was the local vet and my Mum was a nurse in the local hospital. Working on the family farm gave me an appreciation of hard work but also made me realise I needed to get a job in a cushy air conditioned office.

I finshed high school and my first degree in Adelaide (bachelor of behavioural science with honours in psychology). I then spent a year teaching English in Japan where I decide to switch from studying psychology to medicine at the University of Queensland.

I became interested in skin cancer medicine during my first year as as GP registrar in Bundaberg and have now been practicing skin cancer medicine for over 10 years. During this 10 years I've done further study and have been lucky enough to observe or work under a number of skin cancer doctors and plastic surgeons.

I live with my partner Maki and our three wonderful kids who are a constant source of amusement as well as pride. In my free time I like to studying Japanese. I also spend too much time reading the news or listening to podcasts, which can become a bit of an obsession. More lately I have rediscovered my love of rock climbing and the joy of indoor bouldering.
